2. Inspect the spark plug gap. Adjust the plug as needed.

Specification
Spark plug gap: 1.52 mm (0.060 in)

3. Hand start the spark plug.

NOTE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Tighten the spark plug.

Tighten

For used heads tighten the plug to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

For new aluminum heads tighten the plug to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

For new iron heads, tighten the plug to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

5. Install the spark plug wire to the spark plug.
6. Inspect the wire for proper installation:

Push sideways on each boot in order to inspect the seating.

^

Reinstall any loose boot.

7. Install the engine sight shield, if necessary.
