2. Using a hammer and a drift punch install new roll pins to the master cylinder.
3. Remove the master cylinder to a bench vice.
4. Install the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement.
5. Release the parking brake.
6. Bleed the brakes. Refer to Automated Bleed Procedure.
Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling
Notice: When filling the master cylinder, use only Delco Supreme 11 (GM P/N 12377967) or equivalent DOT 3 brake fluid. Do not use a container
which has been used for petroleum based fluids, or a container which is wet with water. Petroleum based fluids will cause swelling and distortion of
rubber parts in the hydraulic brake system, and water will mix with brake fluid, lowering the boiling point. Keep all fluid containers capped to prevent
contamination.
Keep the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir properly filled in order to ensure an adequate reserve and in order to prevent air and moisture from
entering the hydraulic system. However, adding brake fluid is not usually necessary unless the brake system has a leak. A leak is indicated by the
brake warning lamp coming on due to low brake fluid. Adding brake fluid is not usually necessary if you are servicing the system. Because of the fluid
expansion due to heat absorbed from the brakes and the engine, do not overfill the reservoir. The brake fluid level will become lower as the brake pads
wear. the brake fluid level should return to approximately the full level when new pads are installed. If brake fluid has been added to the reservoir
prior to a pad change, you should inspect in order to ensure the fluid level is not overfull. In order to fill the reservoir, thoroughly clean around the
reservoir cap before removing the cap in order to avoid getting dirt or other containments into the reservoir. Remove the cap. Add fluid as needed in
order to bring the level to the full mark. Use only Delco(R) Supreme 11 Brake Fluid or an equivalent DOT 3 brake fluid.
