Torsion Bar: Service and Repair
Torsion Bar Bushing Bracket Assembly Replacement

Tools Required 
-

J 36202 Torsion Bar Unloading/Loading Tool.

Removal Procedure

Important:  This procedure requires the removal of both torsion bars.

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the torsion bars. Refer to Torsion Bar Replacement.
3. Center punch the rivet heads.
4. Drill out the rivets and remove the bracket assembly.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the bracket assembly.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the mounting bolts and nuts.

Tighten the nuts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

3. Install the torsion bars. Refer to Torsion Bar Replacement.
4. Remove the safety stands.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Measure the Z height. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications (RWD Pick-up) or Wheel Alignment Specifications (4WD Pick-up) or Wheel

Alignment Specifications (RWD Utilities) or Wheel Alignment Specifications (4WD Utilities) in Wheel Alignment.

7. Turn the adjustment bolt clockwise to increase the Z height and counter clockwise to lower the Z height.
