Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Remove left side sound insulator panel.

3.

Slide steering shaft protective sleeve toward front of dash.

4.

Disconnect air distribution tube and pull down.

5.

Remove retainer pin which holds stop light switch to steering column bracket.

6.

Disconnect switch arm from pedal by pushing arm over and off of brake pedal pin.

7.

Release switch by pulling down and releasing top snap clip.

8.

Remove connector position assurance locking pins from four wire and two wire connector.

9.

Disconnect two wire and four wire connectors.

10.

Reverse procedure to install, then adjust switch as follows:
a. Depress brake pedal as far as possible and hold.
b. Using a stiff wire with a hooked end, gently pull on the switch set lever and listen for an audible click.

11.

Install left sound insulator panel.
