Recall 00V189000: Steering Shaft Separation
Vehicle Description: Passenger vehicles located in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New
Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin, where road salt use is heavy.
A condition where one or both front engine cradle bolts can pull through the retainers due to corrosion of the retainers. If both bolts pull through, the
front of the cradle would not longer be supported at the mounting locations and the steering intermediate shaft may separate from the steering gear.
GM has not yet provided a remedy for this campaign.
Owner notification is expected to begin during August 2000.
Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time
