Transmission Position Switch/Sensor: Service and Repair
Neutral Start Switch Removal And Adjustment.
Rear Of Engine
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

Negative battery cable.
-
Place vehicle in neutral.
-
Shift linkage.
-
Electrical connector.
-
Mounting bolts.
-
Switch assembly.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
-
Place transaxle shift lever in NEUTRAL.

Align flats of shift shaft to flats in switch.

Mounting bolts.

If bolts holes do not align with mounting boss on transmission, verify shift shaft is in neutral position. DO NOT ROTATE SWITCH. Switch is
pinned in the neutral position.

If switch has been rotated and pin broken or when using old switch, adjust as follow:
a. Assemble mounting molts loosely.
b. Align slot in support with slot in back and insert 2.34 mm (3/32 inch) maximum diameter gauge pin horizontally into both pieces.
c. Torque bolts.

Tighten mounting bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft lbs).

Remove gage pin (if used).

Shift linkage.
IMPORTANT: After switch installation, verify that engine will only start in "Park" or "Neutral". If engine will start on any other position, readjust
switch.
ADJUST IF NEEDED

Place transaxle control shifter assembly in the "Neutral" notch in detent plate.
