Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
FRONT
1.
Remove air cleaner assembly.
2.
Remove exhaust crossover pipe.
3.
Remove engine torque strut bracket to frame bolts and lift strut out of the way.
4.
Remove upper radiator shroud, right side cooling fan heat shield and right cooling fan assembly.
5.
On models with manual transaxles, remove front hose from air pipe.
6.
On all models, remove exhaust manifold nuts then the manifold and heat shield.
7.
Reverse procedure to install.
REAR
Automatic Transaxles
1.
Remove rear cam carrier as outlined under CAMSHAFT CARRIER.
2.
Remove exhaust crossover pipe.
3.
Raise and support vehicle.
4.
Disconnect front exhaust pipe at manifold.
5.
Lower vehicle.
6.
Disconnect oxygen sensor connector.
7.
Remove exhaust manifold nuts then the manifold and heat shield.
8.
Reverse procedure to install.
Manual Transaxles
1.
Remove air cleaner assembly.
2.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
3.
Remove exhaust crossover pipe.
4.
Raise and support vehicle.
5.
Disconnect front exhaust manifold pipe.
6.
Disconnect and remove oxygen sensor.
7.
Remove exhaust manifold heat shield and disconnect EGR pipe at manifold.
8.
Remove exhaust manifold nuts then the exhaust manifold.
9.
Reverse procedure to install.
