A new PCM (Powertrain Control Module) calibration has been released to address the above conditions. Along with reprogramming the PCM it will be
necessary to secure the vacuum lines at the throttle body with a tie strap (Figures 1 and 2). After installing the tie straps, cut off the excess tie strap
material.
If, after the new flash PROM has been installed and the vehicle still exhibits crank times in excess of 4 seconds after a minimum hot soak of 45 minutes,
then replace the fuel injectors with P/N 17113317.
Parts Information
The vacuum hose tie strap and fuel injectors are currently available from GMSPO.
The calibration numbers are available from the GM Service Technology Group starting with 1996 CD # 16. The calibration numbers are as shown.
Important:
Do not attempt to order the calibration numbers from GMSPO. The calibrations are programmed into the vehicle's Powertrain Control Module via a
Techline Tool device.
