REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System.
4. Remove the Intermediate exhaust pipe.
5. Remove the rack and pinion heat shield.
6. Remove the generator air cooling duct.
7. Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector.
8. Remove the knock sensor from the engine block.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE:  Do not apply thread sealant to the sensor threads. The sensor is coated at the factory. Applying additional sealant will affect the sensors ability
to detect detonation.

1. Install the knock sensor into the engine block.

Tighten
Sensor to 19 Nm (14 lb ft).

2. Reconnect the knock sensor electrical connector.
3. Install the generator air cooling duct.
4. Install the rack and pinion heat shield.
5. Install the intermediate exhaust pipe.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
