Parking Brake Cable: Adjustments
Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment (Drum)
1. Adjust the rear brakes.
2. Apply the parking brake to 10 clicks and release. Repeat this step five times.
3. Use the following procedure in order to inspect the parking brake pedal for full release:
3.1. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Verify that the BRAKE indicator lamp is off
3.2. If the light is on and the brake appears to be released, ensure that the pedal is in release mode and completely returned to stop. Pull downward
on the parking brake cable in order to remove any slack
4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
5. Turn the nut on the equalizer while spinning both rear wheels in order to adjust the parking brake. When either rear wheel develops drag, stop the
adjustment and back off the equalizer nut one full turn.
6. Apply the parking brake to four clicks and check the rear wheel rotation.
7. Ensure that the wheel does not move when attempting to rotate it by hand in a forward direction. The wheel should drag or not move when
attempting to rotate in a rearward direction.
8. Release the parking brake and check for free wheel rotation.
9. Lower the vehicle.
