Evaporative Emissions Hose: Service and Repair

Do Not attempt to repair the EVAP pipes or the connecting hoses. If the EVAP pipes or the connecting hoses are damaged, replace them. If the
nylon EVAP pipe becomes kinked, and cannot be straightened, it must be replaced.

When replacing the EVAP pipes or the EVAP hoses, always replace them with the original equipment or pants that meet the GM specifications for
those parts. When replacing EVAP pipes, the replacement pipe must have the same type of fittings as the original pipe to ensure the integrity of the
connection. When replacing EVAP hoses, use only reinforced fuel-resistant hose identified with the word Fluoroelastomer or GM 6163-M on the
hose. The inside hose diameter must match the outside pipe diameter. Do Not use rubber hose within 100 mm (4 in) of any part of the exhaust
system or within 254 mm (10 in) of the catalytic converter.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Remove the hardware retaining the EVAP pipes. Note the location of the attaching hardware for installation.
2. Remove the EVAP pipes at the EVAP canister.
3. Remove the EVAP pipes at the fuel tank
4. Remove the EVAP pipes.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Route the replacement EVAP pipe in the same manner as the original EVAP pipe was routed.

1. Install the EVAP pipes into the vehicle.
2. Install the EVAP pipes onto the fuel tank.
3. Install the EVAP pipes onto the EVAP canister.

NOTE: Properly secure the EVAP pipe in order to prevent chafing of the pipe.

4. Install the hardware retaining the EVAP pipe.
