Intermediate Shaft To Steering Gear
6. Intermediate shaft bolt pinch bolt, and move plastic cover aside.
7. Catalytic converter form exhaust manifold.
8. Support Rear frame with jackstands.
9. Rear frame bolts and lower frame.
10. Power steering gear heat shield.
11. Power steering gear outlet hose clip.
12. Inlet hose from steering gear.
13. Cooling pipe from steering gear.
14. Power steering gear pipe clip bolts/screws.
15. Power steering fluid cooling pipe clips.
16. Cooling pipe from drivetrain and front suspension frame.
17. Cooling pipe and reservoir inlet hose from vehicle.
18. Cooling hose clamp.
19. Cooling pipe.
Install or Connect
NOTICE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be correct part number for that application. Fasteners
requiring replacement of fasteners requiring thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints,
lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping
force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to
parts and system.
1. Position cooling pipe to reservoir inlet hose until properly seated.
2. Power steering gear outlet hose clip.
3. Position and align clips to cooling pipe.
4. Position cooling pipe to drivetrain and front suspension frame.
5. Power steering gear pipe clips.
6. Power steering gear pipe clip bolts.
Tighten

Bolts/screws to 9.5 N.m (84 inch lbs.).
7. Cooling pipe to steering gear.
Tighten
-
Pipe to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.).
8. Inlet hose to steering gear.
9. Power steering gear outlet hose clip.
10. Power steering gear heat shield.
Tighten
-
Heat shield screws to 6 N.m (54 inch lbs.).
11. Catalytic converter to exhaust manifold.
12. Raise frame and install new bolts.
Important: When installing the intermediate shaft make sure the shaft is seated prior to pinch bolt installation. If the pinch bolt is inserted into the
coupling before shaft installation, the two mating shafts may disengage.
