10. Power steering cooler line retaining clips from frame.
11. Support rear of frame, using jackstands.
12. Rear frame bolts and lower rear of frame. 
13. Steering gear heat shield screws and heat shield.
14. Power steering lines clamp from steering gear.
15. Power steering return hose from cooler pipe.
16. Cooler pipe from steering gear.
17. Cooler pipe.

Install or Connect

NOTICE:  Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be correct part number for that application. Fasteners
requiring replacement of fasteners requiring thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints,
lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping
force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to
parts and system.

1. Cooler pipe.
2. Cooler pipe to steering gear.
3. Power steering return hose and clamp to cooler.

Tighten clamp.

4. Power steering lines clamp to steering gear.
5. Steering gear heat shield and screws.

Tighten
-

Screws to 6 N.m (54 inch lbs.).

6. Raise frame and align steering gear stub shaft to intermediate shaft.
7. New rear frame bolts. 
8. Remove jackstands from frame.
9. Power steering cooler pipe retaining clamps to frame.

10. Engine and transaxle mount retaining nuts to frame. 
11. Catalytic converter to exhaust manifold. 
12. Both tie rod ends to steering knuckles. 
13. Tighten right side engine splash shield.

Important:  When installing the intermediate shaft make sure the shaft is seated prior to pinch bolt installation. If the pinch bolt is inserted into the
coupling before shaft installation, the two mating shafts may disengage.

NOTICE:  Set steering shaft so block tooth on upper steering shaft is at the 12 o'clock position, wheels on vehicle are straight ahead and set
ignition switch to LOCK position. Failure to follow these procedures could result in damage to the coil.

14. Intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt.

Tighten
-

Bolt to 47 N.m (35 ft. lbs.).

15. Both front wheel and tire.
16. Lower vehicle. 
17. Remove J 28467-A, J 28467-90 and J 36462.
18. Air cleaner and duct assembly.
19. Bleed power steering system. 

Inspect

-

For leaks. Refer to Testing and Inspection.

Steering Gear Line (Right or Left)

Tools Required:

J 28467- Engine Support Fixture
J 28467-0 Adapters
J 36462 Adapter Leg
J 35917 Tie Rod Puller/Ball Joint Remover

Remove or Disconnect

1. Air cleaner and duct assembly.
