Output Shaft: Service and Repair
Output Axle Shaft Sleeve

Tools Required:
-

J 41227 Stub Shaft Sleeve Remover

-

J 41228 Stub Shaft Sleeve Installer

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Raise vehicle and support the vehicle.
2. Drive axle assembly.
3. Transaxle side cover assembly, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE.
4. Sleeve from output shaft using puller J 41227.

Inspect

-

Inspect the sleeve for excessive wear, scratches or nicks that may cause a leak or damage to the seal portion. If sleeve appears damaged, it
must be replaced.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. New sleeve on output shaft using J 41228. Sleeve installation tool must be installed on shaft such that the collar is located in the snap ring groove.
2. Two new snap rings on the output shaft
3. Install seal protector into side cover to prevent the seal from rolling.
4. Transaxle side cover assembly.
5. Drive axle assembly.
6. Lower vehicle.

Inspect

-

For leaks.

-

Oil level, refer to TRANSAXLE OIL LEVEL CHECKING PROCEDURE.
