Trunk / Liftgate Release Lever: Description and Operation
LIFTGATE RELEASE
The liftgate can be released by operating the liftgate release switch or pressing the liftgate release button on the key fob. The transmission must be in the
PARK position for the liftgate to release.
When the liftgate release switch is pushed, the liftgate release switch signal circuit to the body control module BCM is grounded. When the liftgate
release switch signal circuit is grounded, the BCM grounds the coil side of the trunk release relay through the trunk release relay control circuit. With
ground applied to the coil side of the trunk release relay, voltage is applied to the liftgate release actuator, opening the liftgate.
