Interior - Seat Headrests Uncomfortable

Bulletin No.: 05-08-50-002

Date: January 05, 2005

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Front Seat Head Restraint Uncomfortable, Positioned Too Far Forward (Replace Head Restraints)

Models:
2004-2005 Malibu, Malibu Maxx

Build Prior To VIN Breakpoint 5F112989

Condition

Some customers may comment on the front seat head restraint being uncomfortable or that it is positioned too far forward.

Correction

During the 2005 model year, the front seat head restraint design was changed to allow further rearward movement. The rearward movement in the center
of the head restraint was increased approximately 15 mm (0.60 in). These head restraints allow for maximum rearward movement yet still meet
government crash standards for whiplash protection. The new design part fits both the driver and passenger seats.

Replace the head restraints. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement - Front Seat in Service Information.
