Malibu V6-3.5L VIN 8 (2004)
1. Install the flywheel and the flywheel retainer.
2. Use the J 37096 to secure the flywheel in order to prevent the crankshaft from rotating.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the engine flywheel bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 71 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).
4. Measure the flywheel runout:
4.1.
Install a dial indicator on the engine block and inspect the engine flywheel runout at 3 attaching bosses.
4.2.
If the condition cannot be corrected, replace the engine flywheel.
5. Install the automatic transaxle.
