Removal Procedure
1. Remove the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement - Bank 1 (See: Powertrain Management/Ignition System/Ignition Coil/Service and
Repair/Ignition Coil Replacement - Bank 1).
2. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement (See: Intake Manifold/Service and Repair/Upper Intake
Manifold Replacement).
3. Unbolt power steering pump, leave the hose power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (See: Steering and
Suspension/Steering/Power Steering/Power Steering Pump/Service and Repair/Power Steering Pump Replacement).
4. Disconnect and remove the engine harness from the camshaft cover.
5. Remove the right camshaft cover bolts.
6. Remove the right camshaft cover from the right cylinder head.
7. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Cleaning and Inspection (See: Service and
Repair/Overhaul/79. Camshaft Cover Cleaning and Inspection).
