Removal Procedure
1. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to Lower Intake Manifold Replacement (See: Intake Manifold/Service and Repair/Lower Intake
Manifold Replacement).
2. Remove the camshaft covers. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement - Left Side (See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Valve Cover/Service and
Repair/Camshaft Cover Replacement - Left Side) and Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side (See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Valve
Cover/Service and Repair/Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side).
3. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (See: Cooling System/Service and Repair/Cooling System Draining and
Filling).
4. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt
Tensioner/Service and Repair).
5. Remove the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement (See: Water Pump/Service and Repair).
6. Remove the power steering pump and position aside. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Power
Steering/Power Steering Pump/Service and Repair/Power Steering Pump Replacement).
7. Remove the camshaft position sensors. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 (Left Side) Exhaust (See: Powertrain

8. Remove the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves from the front cover. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Solenoid

9. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and Repair/Generator
Replacement).
10. Remove the water outlet housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (See: Cooling System/Thermostat/Service and Repair).
11. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (See: Cylinder Block Assembly/Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft
Pulley/Service and Repair).
Clean the front cover of the components first before installing a support fixture.
12. Remove the right side engine mount bracket. refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Right Side (See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and
Accessories/Engine Mount/Service and Repair/Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Right Side).
13. Insert a block of hard wood between the frame and the engine. Lower the engine onto the block of wood.
