Oil Pan: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Place a drain pan beneath the engine oil pan in order to catch escaping engine oil.
4. Remove the following components in order to allow the engine oil to drain:

The engine oil pan plug.

The gasket (5).
5. Remove the crankshaft position sensor (4) and one bolt.
6. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
^
Fourteen engine oil pan bolts.
^
Two nuts.
^
The engine oil pan (3).
7. Remove the following components from the cylinder block:
^
The oil pump strainer bracket bolt.
^
The oil pump strainer bolt.
^
The oil pump strainer (2).
8. Remove the oil pump strainer seal (3).
9. Clean the inside of the engine oil pan and the oil pump strainer screen.
10. Clean the mating surfaces of the engine oil pan and the cylinder block.
