Throttle Cable/Linkage: Adjustments
Important: The accelerator control cable free-play (end play) specification is 10 to 15 mm (0.4 to 0.6 in) with the vehicle at normal operating
temperature and the throttle closed. Adjust the accelerator control cable free-play if the end play is out of specifications.
1. Remove the air cleaner (if necessary). Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
2. Loosen the accelerator control cable locknut (5) (if necessary).
3. Adjust the accelerator control cable free-play (1) to 10 to 15 mm (0.4 to 0.6 in) with the adjusting nut (4).
4. Tighten the accelerator control cable locknut (5) after the adjustment is set.
5. Measure the accelerator control cable free-play (1) after tightening the cable locknut.
6. Repeat Steps 1 thru 5 until the accelerator control cable free-play is within specifications.
Important: Operate the accelerator control cable from inside the vehicle with the engine OFF in order to ensure that the throttle movement is smooth
and is not binding.
7. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
