Shift Solenoid: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the negative (-) battery cable.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
3. Remove the transaxle drain plug after the transaxle has cooled and drain the fluid into the drain pan or suitable container.
4. Remove the following components from the transaxle:

The 15 bolts
^
The fluid pan guard (3)
^
The fluid pan (2)
^
The fluid pan gasket (1)
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors (6,7) from the direct clutch and the second brake solenoids (5,8).
6. Remove the following components from the lower valve body:

The two bolts
^
The direct clutch solenoid (5)
^
The second brake solenoid (8)
