Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments
1985-88 Exc. 1985 V6 Engine
On 1985-88 4 cylinder engines and 1986 V6 engines, the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) does not require adjustment. The ECM reads the
TPS voltage at idle for the zero reading, therefore, no adjustment is necessary. However, on 1985 V6 engines the TPS is adjustable. Adjust using
the following procedure:
With ignition "ON", use a digital voltmeter connected to terminals "A" and "B", and rotate the TPS until a reading of .525 +/- .075 volts is obtained.
Then tighten attaching screws.
