Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair
Cruise Control Release Switch and Stoplamp Switch Adjustment
Cruise Control Release Switch And Stoplamp Switch Adjustment (Typical)
The cruise control release switch and the stoplamp switch are adjusted together. Incorrect adjustment could cause the cruise control system to not work
properly.
Adjust
1. Remove LH I/P insulator panel.
2. Depress brake pedal fully.
3. Push switch(es) into retainer(s) until fully seated.
4. Pull brake pedal fully rearward against pedal stop until audible clicks can no longer be heard.
Measure
^
The following brake pedal travel distances can be used to validate proper cruise control release switch and stoplamp switch adjustment.
-
Cruise control release switch and stoplamp switch contacts must be open at 3.5 to 12.5 mm (1/8 to 1/2 inch) of brake pedal travel,
measured at the centerline of the brake pedal pad. Nominal actuation of the stoplamp switch contacts is about 4.5 mm (3/16 inch) after
cruise control switch contacts close.
5. Install LH 1/P insulator panel.
