Cooler to Return Pipe Hose

Tool Required:

J 35917 Tie Rod Puller/Ball Joint Remover

Remove or Disconnect

1. Raise vehicle and suitably support. 
2. Right front wheel and tire. 
3. Loosen right side engine splash shield. 
4. Catalytic converter from exhaust manifold. 
5. Steering gear heat shield screws and heat shield.
6. Right tie rod end from steering knuckle, using J 35917.
7. Cut and remove hose clamps retaining hose.
8. Hose.

Install or Connect

NOTICE:  Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be correct part number for that application. Fasteners
requiring replacement of fasteners requiring thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints,
lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping
force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to
parts and system.

1. Return hose and clamps.
2. Tighten clamps.
3. Tie rod and nut to steering knuckle. 
4. Steering gear heat shield and screws.

Tighten
-

Screws to 6 N.m (54 inch lbs.).

5. Catalytic converter to exhaust manifold. 
6. Tighten right side engine splash shield. 
7. Right front wheel and tire. 
8. Lower vehicle. 
9. Fill system. 

10. Bleed power steering system.

Inspect

-

For leaks. 

Cooler Pipe

Tools Required:

J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture
J 28467-90 Adapters
J 36462 Adapter Leg
J 35917 Tie Rod Puller/Ball Joint Remover

Remove or Disconnect

1. Air cleaner and duct assembly. 
2. Install J 28467-A, J 28467-90 and J 36462.
3. Raise vehicle and suitably support. 
4. Left and right wheel and tire. 

CAUTION:  Failure to disconnect intermediate shaft from rack and pinion stub shaft can result in damage to steering gear and/or
intermediate shaft. This damage can cause loss of steering control which could result in personal injury.

NOTICE:  Set steering shaft so block tooth on upper steering shaft is at the 12 o'clock position, wheels on vehicle are straight ahead and set
ignition switch to LOCK position. Failure to follow these procedures could result in damage to the coil.

5. Intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt at steering gear.
6. Loosen right side engine splash shield.
7. Both left and right side tie rod ends from steering knuckle, using J 35917.
8. Catalytic converter from exhaust manifold. 
9. Engine and transaxle mount nuts at frame.
