Canister Purge Control Valve: Testing and Inspection
To test the canister control valve proceed as follows:

Apply a short hose to the labeled "PURGE VAC" of the valve and blow into it. If air passes through the valve, the valve is bad. If no air passes
through the valve proceed to next step.

Use a hand vacuum pump with gauge and apply 15" Hg of vacuum to the tube labeled "CONTROL VAC." If the gauge does not show the diaphragm
holding vacuum for at least 20 seconds, then the valve is bad. If the diaphragm does hold vacuum then proceed to next step.

With vacuum still applied to the "control vacuum" tube, try and blow into the short hose still connected to the "purge vac" tube of the valve. If air
passes through the valve, then valve is ok. If air does not pass through the valve, then the valve is bad.
