1.

Place steering gear, Fig. 1, in a suitable soft jawed vise, then remove pressure switch.

2.

Remove tie rod ends, then the boots.

3.

Straighten staked portion of lock washer between inner tie rod and rack, then remove tie rods from rack.

4.

Remove right and left pipe assemblies between valve housing and cylinder.

5.

Using tool Nos. J-35692 and J-35423, remove adjusting plug locknut, cap and rack guide.

6.

Remove dust cover and snap ring, then using tool No. J-35428, remove self locking nut from lower end of pinion gear.

7.

Remove pinion assembly, then the upper bearing and oil seal.
