Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair

1.

Loosen wheel and hub nuts.

2.

Raise and support vehicle.

3.

Remove tire and wheel assembly.

4.

Remove brake hose retaining clip at strut.

5.

Disconnect flex hose from brake line.

6.

Remove caliper bracket to knuckle mounting bolts, then support caliper.

7.

Remove disc assembly.

8.

Remove drive axle unit. Use tool J-25287 or equivalent, to push out drive axle assembly.

9.

Remove cotter pin and tie-rod to knuckle attaching nut. Use tool J-24319-01 or equivalent to separate the tie-rod assembly.

10.

Remove ball joint to control arm attaching nuts and bolt.

11.

Mark camber relationship for installation, then remove two strut to knuckle attaching nuts and bolts, then the knuckle.

12.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque control arm nuts and bolts to 47 ft. lbs, ball joint to knuckle, 14 ft. lbs., strut to lower bracket bolts to 105 ft.
lbs., tie-rod to knuckle 38 ft. lbs. and brake caliper bracket to knuckle attaching bolts to 65 ft. lbs.
