Fuel Pressure Regulator: Description and Operation
Fuel Pressure Regulator
The fuel pressure regulator is a diaphragm-operated pressure relief valve consisting of a diaphragm, a spring and a valve. The fuel pressure regulator
keeps the fuel pressure applied to the fuel injectors 301-347 kPa (44-50 psi). The fuel pressure regulator is located in the fuel tank and is part of the fuel
sender assembly.
The fuel pressure regulator is attached to the fuel filter (2) in the fuel sender assembly. Fuel flows into the fuel filter and the fuel pressure regulator.
Excess fuel is then discharged back into the fuel tank.
