Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove air cleaner assembly.
2.
Disconnect throttle controls at bellcrank, then if necessary remove the carburetor.
3.
Disconnect fuel and vacuum lines from the manifold and remove the PCV hose. If equipped, disconnect vacuum lines from EGR and EFE valves.
4.
Remove air pump and bracket.
5.
Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold flange, then remove manifold heat stove.
6.
Remove manifold attaching bolts and clamps, then the manifold assembly and gasket.
7.
Remove bolts and nut at center of assembly, then separate manifolds.
8.
Reverse procedure to install using new gasket, and tighten bolts to specification. The manifold to cylinder head nuts and bolts should always be
tightened prior to tightening manifold center nuts and bolt.
