Ball Joint: Service and Repair
Upper

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Using a suitable jack support control arm. The jack must remain under the control arm spring seat during removal and installation to retain the
spring and control arm in position.

3.

Remove wheel and tire assembly.

4.

Remove caliper.

5.

Remove rivets from upper ball joint.

6.

Remove cotter pin.

7.

Remove stud nut from upper ball joint.

8.

Remove upper ball joint.

9.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque ball joint attaching nuts to 8 ft. lbs. Torque stud nut to 90 ft. lbs.
