Ensure oil pump drive gear is turned rearward as viewed from clearance between front cover and cylinder block and the slit at the end of the oil
pump drive shaft is parallel with the front face of the cylinder block and is offset forward as viewed through the distributor fitting hole, Fig. 11.

Install oil pump cover and mounting bolts.
6.
Install relief valve assembly and rubber hose on cover.
7.
Connect oil pickup tube to rubber hose and secure tube to cylinder block.
8.
Install oil pan and cam cover.
9.
Install distributor so boss on shaft is fitted into slit at end of oil pump drive shaft.
10.
Refill engine oil and check for leaks.
