REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Drain radiator coolant, then remove radiator hoses and radiator.
3.
Remove timing pulley housing covers. Refer to ``Timing Pulley Housing Cover, Replace'' for procedure.
4.
Remove timing belt. Refer to ``Timing Belt, Replace'' for procedure.
5.
Install a 6 mm bolt through injection pump pulley hole into threaded hole in timing pulley housing to prevent pulley from turning, then remove
injection pump pulley nut.
6.
Remove injection pump pulley using puller J-22888-D, Fig. 24.
7.
Remove camshaft pulley retaining bolt.
8.
Remove camshaft pulley and center assembly using puller J-22888-D, Fig. 25.
9.
Remove camshaft center assembly oil seal.
10.
Remove crankshaft hub bolt, then crankshaft pulley hub and pulley using puller J-24420-A. If crankshaft front seal requires replacement, it may be
replaced at this time.
11.
Disconnect fuel shut-off solenoid and vacuum line.
12.
Remove injection lines.
13.
Disconnect fuel and return lines.
14.
Disconnect throttle return spring, then remove injection pump bracket to injection pump mounting bolts.
15.
Remove timing pulley housing bolts, then remove housing and injection pump as an assembly.
INSTALLATION
1.
Clean timing pulley housing and engine block mounting surfaces, then install new gasket.
2.
Position timing pulley housing on engine block and install bolts. Torque bolts to 10-17 ft. lbs.
3.
Install crankshaft front seal using tool J-24250.
4.
Install new camshaft seal using tool J-24254, then install oil seal retainer.
