Brake Caliper: Description and Operation
Rear Disc Brakes
The rear disc brake caliper has a single piston in an aluminum housing which is suspended in the anchor bracket on two guide pins. Hydraulic pressure,
created by applying force to the brake pedal, acts equally against the piston and the bottom of the caliper bore to move the piston outward and to slide
the caliper inward resulting in a clamping action on the rotor. This clamping action forces the linings against the rotor creating friction to stop the
vehicle. Parking brake application is completely independent of the hydraulic braking system.
