Remove the fuel meter body to throttle body gasket and discard.
INSTALLATION:
1.
Install a new fuel meter body to throttle body gasket. Match cut-out portions of the gasket with openings in throttle body assembly.
2.
Install the fuel meter body assembly.
3.
Install the two fuel meter body attaching screw and washer assemblies that have been coated with the appropriate locking compound. Tighten
attaching screws to 6.0 Nm (53.0 lb-in).
4.
Install the throttle body mounting hardware. Tighten the mounting hardware to 17.0 Nm (12.0 lb-ft.).
5.
Install new o-rings on the fuel line nuts.
6.
Install fuel inlet and outlet nuts by hand. Tighten inlet and outlet nuts to 27.0 Nm (20.0 lb-ft.). Use a back-up wrench to keep TBI nuts from
turning.
7.
Install grommet with wires to the fuel meter assembly.
8.
Connect electrical connector to the fuel injector, making sure it is fully seated and latched.
9.
With the engine OFF and the ignition ON, check for fuel leaks around the fuel line nuts.
Throttle Body Unit
REMOVE or DISCONNECT
1.
Relieve fuel system pressure.
2.
Negative battery terminal
3.
THERMAC hose from engine
4.
Air cleaner, adapter and gaskets. Discard gasket.
5.
Electrical connectors to TPS sensor, IAC valve, Injector(s).
6.
Gromet with wires from throttle body.
7.
Throttle linkage, return springs, transmission control cable and cruise control cable when applicable.
8.
Vacuum hoses, noting positions of hoses.
9.
Inlet and outlet fuel line nuts.
10.
Fuel line O-rings and discard.
11.
TBI mounting hardware.
12.
TBI unit from intake manifold.
13.
Reverse procedure to install using new O-rings and gasket.

On vehicles using the model 700 TBI, when reinstalling the TBI unit, tighten the attaching bolts/studs to 17.0 Nm (13.0 ft lbs).
Anytime the TBI attaching bolts/studs to the intake manifold are installed or retightened, the fuel meter body attaching screws should also be retightened.
Tightening the TBI attaching bolts may cause the fuel meter body gasket to compress and allow the fuel meter body attaching screw to loosen.
Tighten fuel meter body attaching screws to 6.0 Nm (53 in lbs).
If the fuel meter body is removed from the TBI unit, be sure to apply threadlocking compound to the fuel meter body attaching screws. Most GM TBI
repair kits include a small vial of threadlocking compound. If this is not available, use Loctite 262 or equivalent. It is not necessary to apply
threadlocking compound to the fuel meter body attaching screws if they are being retightened only, and the TBI attaching bolts/studs have already been
tightened to the proper torque.
