Condition:

The "Check Gages" light on 1986-88 S/T trucks with 2.8L engine and optional gage cluster may flicker at idle. The flicker will go away as soon as the
engine speed is above normal idle.

Cause:

The oil pressure sender is a combination unit, with both a sender for the gage and a switch for the light. The calibration of the switch is high enough to
allow the light to come on with the reduced oil pressure normally found at idle (6 to 10 psi).

Correction:

1.

Insure that the engine has at least 6 psi oil pressure at idle by using an external gage.

2.

Replace the sender with P/N 10137603.

Parts are expected to be available on July 10, 1989. Until then normal part orders will not be accepted by GMSPO. Only verifiable emergency VIP
orders will be accepted. SPO will make every effort to obtain parts. All parts will be placed on 400 control to waive VIP surcharges. However, the part
will be shipped premium transportation at dealer's expense. All other order types will be canceled as incorrectly ordered while the 400 control is in place.

Use Labor Operation No. N2220 with applicable time.
