Some 1986 S/T model trucks may experience excessive high temperature lever effort. This condition may be caused by incorrect temperature cable
routing and/or incorrect cable attachment to the temperature door. To verify correct cable routing and attachment, the following checks should be made:
Routing of Temperature Cable
1.
Routing of the temperature cable should be above the glove box as shown in Figure No. 1.
Attachment of Temperature Cable
2.
The cable should be attached to the temperature door lever with the adjustment clip facing toward the front of the vehicle (See Figure No. 2).
3.
The push-on nut should not be pushed down onto the adjustment dip to the extent that rotation of the clip on the shaft is prevented (See
