Some 1986-87 Model S-10 trucks with manual steering may experience lubricant seepage from the adjuster plug. To repair this condition the following
procedure should be performed.
Notice:
This repair is to be done without removing the gear from the vehicle.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Mark position of the adjuster plug on gear housing to insure proper positioning after repair.
2.
Remove adjuster plug locknut from the gear
3.
Back off adjuster two complete turns until mark on adjuster plug and housing line up.

Clean adjuster plug threads closest to the housing, housing edge and adjuster plug locknut with locktite safety solvent 75559 or equivalent (Figure
No. 1).
