4. Spread the brake shoes apart slightly and remove the brake shoe adjuster (1).
5. Inspect and replace any missing, worn, or damaged drum brake adjuster hardware. Refer to Drum Brake Adjusting Hardware Inspection (See:
Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/Drum Brake Adjusting Hardware Inspection) .
6. Remove the brake shoe hold down springs and cups (1).
Compress the spring and rotate the assembly 1/4 turn to remove from the hold down pins.
