Valve Lifter Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Replacement - Left Side   (See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Service and Repair/Cylinder Head

Replacement) or Cylinder Head Replacement - Right Side   (See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Service and Repair/Cylinder Head Replacement).

2. Loosen the valve lifter guide retainer bolts.
3. Remove the valve lifter guide retainers.
4. Remove the valve lifter guides.
5. Remove the valve lifters.
6. If required, clean and inspect the lifters. Refer to Valve Lifter Cleaning and Inspection   (See: Service and Repair/Overhaul/83. Valve Lifters and

Guides Cleaning and Inspection).

Installation Procedure

1. Apply clean engine oil to the roller and outside of the valve lifter.
