Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

1.
Remove transaxle as described elsewhere in this chapter.
2.
Disconnect exhaust pipe bracket.
3.
Remove oil pan as described under ``Oil Pan, Replace.''
4.
Remove rear retainer, then the rear main oil seal.
5.
Clean retainer mating surface and apply suitable sealant as shown, Fig. 13.
6.
Apply clean engine oil to seal lip, then install retainer and the seal using tool No. J-35264 or equivalent.
