The following steps should be followed in the event of a "brake warning light on complaint condition.
1.
Check fluid level and add fluid - see below.
2.
Check and repair leaks in pipes, hoses and seals.
3.
Check parking brake and repair as required.
Some 1985-86 Spectrums may experience activation of the brake warning light when the brake fluid level in the reservoir falls below the point half way
between the "max" and "min" level indicator lines on the reservoir. This condition may develop due to normal brake pad wear.
The brake warning light switch on this model is activated by a float in the brake fluid reservoir, which responds to fluid level and not by a pressure
differential switch as on some other models.
The reservoir should be filled with Delco Supreme No. 2 or D.O.T. fluids. Return the cap diaphragm to its original (collapsed) condition.
