Dealer Service Bulletin 88-214-5 is being reissued to correct the involved models. The bulletin affects 1985-88 sprint vehicles, not Spectrums. All
copies of 88-214-5 dated May, 1988 should be discarded.
Some of the subject vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise from the area of the brake booster when the engine is idling and the brake applied. This condition
is more common on vehicles equipped with automatic transmission and occurs only when the engine is cold.
The repair is to replace the vacuum check valve at the booster using P/N 96057459 available from GMSPO.
This part has been revised in order to prevent the check valve being agitated by the vacuum pulses present in the vacuum line to the booster at idle.
