Fluid Pump: Service and Repair

1.
Remove mainshaft from oil pump assembly, Fig. 46.
2.
Remove oil pump cover attaching screws, then the oil pump cover from oil pump body.
3.
Remove pick up tube retainer, then the pick up tube and oil pump pickup from oil pump body.
4.
Disconnect oil pump pickup from pick up tube.
5.
Reverse procedure to assemble, noting the following:
a.
Before installing cover onto oil pump assembly, coat assembly with automatic transmission fluid.
b.
After installing mainshaft into oil pump assembly, ensure mainshaft turns freely. If mainshaft does not turn freely, remove cover, rotate gears
and reinstall cover.
