Rear Axle Lubricant Replacement (9.5 Inch HD Axle)

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

2. Remove the rear axle fill plug.

3. Remove the rear axle drain plug.
4. Drain the lubricant into a suitable container.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

1. Install the rear axle drain plug.

Tighten the rear axle drain plug to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

2. Fill the rear axle housing.

Use the proper fluid. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities.
