Hybrid Two-Mode ABS Traction Control, StabiliTrak Lights And/Or Service Brake System Message On With DTCs C0277, C0278.00, C0161, C129C,
C129F, C12B1 or C0110.61 and C12E8 (Reprogram EBCM and ECM, Then Perform EBCM Relearn)

Models

Condition

Some customers may comment that the ABS lamp is illuminated followed by a "Service Stability Message" and/or "Service Brake System Message"
displayed in the Drivers Information Center.

During diagnosis, the technician may find any or all of the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) codes set as shown above.

Correction

Important:

Verify that the 12-volt battery has a battery charge of 12 to 16 volts. The battery must be able to maintain a charge during the programming.
Only use approved Midtronics PSC-550 charger/maintainer or equivalent to maintain proper battery voltage during programming. The J2534
MDI will reprogram the modules in less time than the Tech 2(R) scan tool.

Monitor the master cylinder pressure sensor parameter, reprogram the EBCM and ECM, then perform the EBCM Relearn using the procedure
below.

1.

Record all the DTCs and sub codes on the repair order.

2.

Using the Tech 2(R), monitor the master cylinder pressure sensor parameter in the EBCM data list with your foot off the brake pedal. The reading
should be at zero, but may rapidly flicker +/- 15 psi ( +/- 100 kPa ) which is normal. Any other readings are considered abnormal and you should
check the master cylinder pressure sensor or circuit information in SI.

Note:

Select "Hybrid Only" for Gross Vehicle Weight.

3.

After the master cylinder pressure sensor is reading correctly, Program the EBCM and the ECM with the latest calibrations listed in TIS2WEB by
selecting the SEQ "EBCM/HCP/ECM/TCM/BECM Sequential Programming".

4.

Clear all the codes from the modules.

5.

Perform the EBCM Relearn Procedure below.
