(Replace "O" Rings/Recharge System)

This bulletin is being revised to add part number and additional information. Please discard corporate bulletin number 00-01-38-002 (Section 1 - HVAC)
Condition
Some customers may comment that the air conditioning does not seem cold enough or is inoperative.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a low refrigerant charge due to a leak in the system.
Correction
Evacuate the system using normal service procedures.
Replace the sealing "O" rings, using GM service kit, P/N 91175903. This service kit has (4) "O" rings of (2) different sizes and (4) bolts with washers.
Also, use "O" ring P/N 91175926.
Replace the "0" rings and attaching bolts at the following air conditioning system assembly joints, after coating the "O" rings lightly with 525 mineral
oil:
1.
Both "0" rings at the evaporator.
(1) 13.4 mm x 02.5 mm (17/32 in x 3/32 in).
(1) 6.7 mm x 01.9 mm (17/64 in x 5/64 in).
2.
Both "O" rings at the compressor.
(1) 10.8 mm x 02.5 mm (27/64 in x 3.32 in).
(1) 13.4 mm x 02.5 mm (17/32 in x 3/32 in).
3.
Discharge hose "O" ring at the condenser.
(1) 10.8 mm x 02.5 mm (27/64 in x 3.32 in).
Important:
Discard all old bolts and replace with the new ones. The bolt with the larger diameter washer is to be installed at the evaporator connection.
4.
Install the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes to the expansion valve. Secure with the new bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).
5.
Install the discharge hose to the condenser.
Secure with new bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (19 lb ft).
6.
Install the discharge and the suction hoses to the compressor.
Secure with two new bolts.
