Coil Spring Replacement (With Independent Rear Suspension)

Tools Required

J 41820 Ball Joint/Stud Separator

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the wheel and tire assemblies. 
3. Remove the brake calipers. 
4. Remove the parking brake cable mounting bracket.
5. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket.
6. Disconnect the ABS electrical connector.
7. Remove the ABS electrical connector mounting bracket.
8. Use the utility jack in order to support the lower control arm.
9. Remove the stabilizer link from the lower control arm.

10. Use the J 41820 in order to disconnect the ball joint from the knuckle.

11. Use the utility jack in order to lower the lower control arm and relieve the coil spring tension.

Notice:  Refer to Avoid Chipping or Scratching the Coating Notice in Service Precautions.

12. Remove the coil spring (2)
