SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 2
SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 2
DISABLING PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Refer to SIR Service Precautions.
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn OFF the ignition.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center.
5. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
6. Locate and remove the air bag fuse from the underhood fuse center.
IMPORTANT: With the Air Bag Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not
indicate an SIR System malfunction.
7. Remove the driver/left lower center pillar trim cover.
8. Loosen the left side impact sensor (SIS) fasteners, then slide the left SIS (1) up and remove the sensor from the center pillar.
9. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (3) from the SIS connector (2).
10. Disconnect the SIS wiring harness connector (2) from the SIS (1).
11. Remove the CPA from the driver/left seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
12. Remove the vehicle wiring harness connector from the left seat belt retractor pretensioner.
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition.
