Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.

2.

If removing right side manifold, proceed as follows:

a. Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold, then lower vehicle.
b. On G models, remove engine cover.
c. On all models, disconnect AIR hose from check valve.
d. Remove exhaust manifold attaching bolts, disconnect AIR pipe from diverter valve, then remove manifold.

3.

If removing left side manifold:

a. Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold and AIR pipe from cylinder head.
b. Remove exhaust manifold attaching bolts, then the exhaust manifold.

4.

Reverse procedure to install, using new gaskets.
